Several restaurants are serving meals for Thanksgiving in Ventura. Maybe it’s time to start a new tradition of dining out and leaving the cooking to the professional chefs while you enjoy great company and great scenery! Here’s where to do it.
Alexander’s Brunch Buffet
Four Points Sheraton Ventura Harbor again presents its popular Thanksgiving brunch buffet at Alexander’s Restaurant. Turkey, ham, and a full complement of holiday dishes will be served along with brunch favorites from 11am–3pm. Adults are $38.95.
Take your Thanksgiving in Ventura in a savory Mexican direction at Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach’s La Cosecha. They’ll be serving a special Thanksgiving menu from 11:30am–7:30pm. Highlights include: ancho chili-rubbed roasted turkey with chorizo-infused mashed potatoes, butternut squash cheese ravioli, and adobo roast prime of beef. Prices are $33.99 for adults, $29.99 for seniors, and $18.99 for kids under 12.
Pierpont Inn Wyndham Garden Ventura
Thanksgiving in Ventura at the Pierpont Inn involves a Thanksgiving buffet brunch served in the Pavilion from 10am–4pm. Choices include: a breakfast bar with an omelet station and pancakes; a carving station with prime rib, turkey and ham; a seafood and raw bar featuring smoked salmon, shrimp, crab legs, and oysters; and dinner entrées of salmon and pork loin. $55 for adults and $25 for children 12 and under.
Recreation
“Before you head out for that big Thanksgiving meal, three races will take place the morning of Nov. 22 to help you burn off some of the soon-to-be-gobbled-up calories,” said the Ventura County Star.
“Billed as ‘the fastest 5K in the county,’ the 12th annual Ventura Turkey Trot will take place at the Ventura Auto Center on Hofer Drive, starting off between Ventura Toyota and Paradise Chevrolet,” they said. “The 5K Run/Walk begins at 8 a.m., and the Kids 1K for those age 14 and younger will take place at 9:15 a.m. Advance registration is $40 for the 5K and $10 for the 1K, ending on Nov. 21. A new offering this year is a finisher’s medal for all registrants in the 5K and kids run. There also will be vendor booths and food, as well as jolly jumps for children.”
You can also head to Rancho Simi Community Park for a Thanksgiving Day 5K presented by Elite Sports. The fifth annual run begins at 8am and travels along a shady, mostly flat, route.
The Conejo Valley YMCA’s 14th annual Turkey Day Dash includes a 5K family fun run and a 1K run/walk. Held at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, the event “will honor the Thousand Oaks community in the wake of the mass shootings at Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks and all those affected by the Woolsey Fire, Annie Dyess, executive director,” told the Star. “Prior to the Kids 1K race beginning at 7:30 a.m., there will be a costume contest at 7:15 a.m., and the top three winners will receive prizes. The 5K Family Run/Walk will follow at 8 a.m.”

This campaign raises funds for the Salvation Army. “The Star is proud to carry on the spirit of Julius Gius through the Bellringer campaign, said Darrin Peschka, news director. Gius, editor of what was then called the Ventura County Star-Free Press, started the campaign in 1979 after some shopping centers banned the Salvation Army’s kettle and bellringers, saying they were too loud and distracting. Most shopping centers eventually rescinded the ban, but The Star’s Bellringer drive was here to stay.” You can donate here.
