Queen Nation packed the park for the last concert, and we can’t wait to go back and see the Woodstock Tribute Band on Sunday, August 11—especially since it’s the 50th anniversary of Woodstock! Did you know that more than 400,000 people came to that iconic music festival in August of 1969 in New York?
There will be slightly less of a crowd at this show, even at max capacity. But be sure to come early for the best view of the stage or place on the lawn. The show begins at 5pm, and you never know who they’ll pay tribute to. Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Santana, Jefferson Airplane, The Who, The Grateful Dead—they’re just a few of the artists who played Woodstock and whose doppelgangers (and sound-alikes) may make an appearance here at Playa Vista.
Jumanji: The Next Level is being released in December, so it’s time to revisit Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle! See why this remake starring Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart was such a hit, earning more than $962 at the worldwide box office.
Seen it already? It’s even better the second time around, and Playa Vista’s Concert Park is a great place to gather with friends or family and enjoy a flick. On Friday, August 2, bring a lawn chair or blanket, and something yummy to eat. You can also purchase from the food trucks. The film starts at 8pm.
It’s time for a little culture—made all the better because you get to enjoy it without the stuffy clothes!
Don’t miss The Bard’s “Pericles” during Shakespeare in the Park (and on the Bluff) on the Westside this summer, with shows split between Playa Vista and Loyola Marymount.
You have three chances to see these FREE performances of “Pericles,” which the New Yorker called, “perhaps the strangest play in Shakespeare’s canon. In some ways, it’s a dream play, a bridge between the tragedies—‘Othello,’ ‘Macbeth,’ and ‘King Lear’—and the late romances—‘The Winter’s Tale,’ ‘Cymbeline,’ and ‘The Tempest.’”
The play will be presented on:
Friday, July 26, 8pm, at Loyola Marymount’s Lawton Plaza
Saturday, July 27, 8pm, at Loyola Marymount’s Lawton Plaza
Sunday, July 28, 7pm, at Playa Vista Central Park Bandshell
It’s time for a Bohemian Rhapsody! Head to Playa Vista’s Central Park Bandshell on Sunday, July 21, from 5–6:30pm for Queen Nation, as part of their CONCERT IN THE PARK series. This popular tribute band lets you relive the magic of Queen. https://playavistadirect.com/show-must-go/
Just take a look at their song list, which packs in all the hits!
